Katrina and Raphaella were sharing treats while watching television.

“It’s a great show, isn’t it?” Katrina asked as Jovinites ended.

“Indeed. It is a masterpiece of the artistic form,” Raphaella commented before consuming a large cookie.

Angelica came up the stairs. She had been informed that Sona was there, and the circumstances of her arrival.

She wasn’t informed of Matilda’s visit, however.

When she hit the top of the stairs, she heard chattering coming from the couch, and turned to see who it was.

She immediately scooped up Raphaella.

“You are absolutely adorable!”

Raphaella took a good look at Angelica. “Oh, you’re that winged person that came to the store with my darling Ken.”

“You’re that doll he was talking about!” she exclaimed.

“That I am.”

Katrina waved. “Angelica, she’s Raphaella, and my new best friend!”

“Oh, my!” Angelica could only squeal at the possibility of infinite levels of cuteness they could get involved in.

“At any rate, could you please put me down? I would hate to get crumbs all over you.”

“Oh, right. Sorry.”

Angelica placed her gently back on the sofa. Then it clicked with her what Raphaella had just said.

“Darling Ken?”

“Yes. He’s my future husband. Unfortunately, it’s hard to plan for the future when he won’t tell me how many children he wants.”

“You seem to have this all planned out.”

“The architect is currently drawing up blueprints for our home. However, I can’t decide on whether the honeymoon should be in Hawaii or the Bahamas.”

Angelica was about to ask for more of the particulars, but Ken and Matilda came into the living room.

“Raphaella, it’s time to go,” she said.

The doll frowned. “But we haven’t been here that long.”

“I know, but we’ll be back tomorrow.”

Raphaella looked at Ken and held her arms up to him. He already knew what she wanted, and he picked her up and put her on right shoulder. Katrina flew up and landed on his head.

“Oh, what is that scent of yours?” Raphaella asked.

“It’s called New Spice.”

She inhaled. “It’s positively masculine.”

“Um . . . thanks.”

Ken escorted Matilda downstairs and to her car.

“Thank you for going out of your way to help her,” Ken said.

“Don’t mention it. It’s one of my duties,” Matilda turned down the words of appreciation.

“Truthfully, she’s an enemy.”

“Enemy?”

“Well, since we helped her out, I don’t know if she still is or not.”

“How did she become an enemy?”

“It’s partly Silver’s doing. I guess, technically, he’s the one they’re after. Something about they’re being deceived by someone named . . . Who was it? Total? Or was it Tohtell?”

“Toh . . . tell?” she echoed, her voice giving Ken the impression that she had heard it before.

“Does that name ring a bell?”

“I think so. If it’s who I think it is, he was from Tailar, my organization. He was an incredibly skilled biomancer. If I recall correctly, he was exiled because of his experiments.”

“Experiments?”

“From what I remember, he had a complete disregard for life itself. He was doing genetic alterations on unwilling victims. When my organization found out, they attempted to catch him, but he caught wind of it and vanished.
